25 Bookish Facts About Me

Hi, friends! While trying to plan out blog posts this weekend, I realized that I haven’t really told you guys much about myself. So as a way to try and let you guys know more about me, I thought I’d list 25 bookish facts about myself like a bunch of booktubers did back when I was in middle school. Without further ado, here we go.

  1. I love audiobooks, last year I audiobooked probably half of the books I read. I am the biggest fan of audiobooks.
  2. While listening to audiobooks, I normally play Best Fiends on my phone, knit, or sometimes make random Latin quizlets that I never actually end up using (oops).
  3. I read a lot of middle grade because I never outgrew my Percy Jackson phase and I keep trying to find something else like it that will also magically bring me back to the days of hiding in my middle school’s library.
  4. I like paperbacks more than hardbacks.
  5. My favorite types of bookmarks are those magnetic over the page ones, I have at least 40 in my dorm room right now.
  6. I love ebooks, I mean, the ability to read on my phone during awkward social situations? Sign me up.
  7. My favorite book series as a kid was either The Cul-de-sac Kids or The Boxcar Children
  8. My top three series currently are The Mortal Instruments, Elemental by Brigid Kemmerer, and Percy Jackson.
  9. I am a big fan of big books, but at the same time I hate them? I know it makes no sense, but I love when a long book is actually well done but normally most long books drag with unnecessary scenes.
  10. My favorite character of all time is Clary Fairchild, with a close second being Charlotte Fairchild.
  11. My brand is defending and loving the Fairchild women at all costs, if you can’t tell.
  12. I have no idea how many books I have, but I have one full bookshelf and half of another one filled.
  13. I can’t read in silence. I have to be listening to music, have TV on in the background, or be sitting in a room where other people are having conversations.
  14. I nearly always list historical fiction as one of my favorite genres because I love history but I never actually read historical fiction? Its something I’m trying to work on.
  15. I do not have any particular reading snacks or beverages, I kind of just eat/drink whatever I want to when I’m reading. On occasion when I am trying to make an event of reading instead of squeezing a few pages in between homework assignments, I will make a cup of tea of hot chocolate, but those times are few and far between.
  16. I read ebooks in the shower. I put my phone in a plastic bag and read while showering. It may sound really weird, but sometimes you just have to multi task.
  17. I love libraries. I volunteered at my local library all through high school and I still visit it almost every time I go home from college.
  18. Deciding which books to bring with me to school and which ones to leave at home is a very big struggle for me and I almost always immediately regret my decisions. Once I had my mom mail a book to me because I decided I needed to read it but then I just, um, didn’t? Oops.
  19. I like books that have humor, I absolutely love it when a book actually makes me laugh out loud and half the time whenever one does I snapchat myself reading the line to my friends.
  20. I am a big rereader. If I even mildly enjoyed a book, I almost always have plans to reread it at some points.
  21. I feel like I should love graphic novels because I am somewhat of a visual learner and I love pictures but most of the time I don’t end up really enjoying them.
  22. I am very big on trying to match songs to books and book characters. If you would like a long list of songs I associate with Clary Fairchild, please ask.
  23. 9/10 I hate or at least dislike adaptations of books, the only adaptation I can think of that I don’t hate is Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.
  24. I don’t have any sort of reading routine, I just read when I want to read and don’t when I don’t. Though since I started blogging and getting more infloved with the community in general I tend to spend more time thinking about how I need to be reading, so that’s something.
  25. I love to annotate! It actually brings me a lot of joy and I want to do it a lot more. But also currently the only books I’ve annotated is TMI soo.

Welp, that’s about it from me today. What are some random bookish facts about you? Can you think of any book adaptations you’ve enjoyed? Let’s chat in the comments!

  1. We have so much in common! I’m a total rereader, too (because if you loved it the first time around, you undoubtedly will the second time, too!… at least, in theory) and I can’t get past my middle-grade phase either. I don’t read nearly as much of it anymore but I’m still very much drawn to it, if that makes sense? Anyways, I was absolutely OBSESSED with The Boxcar Children as a child and when my sister and I would play outside I’d always pretend that we were the kids in the book and I’d “cook” for her and build shelters since I didn’t have a handy boxcar just lying around, haha. I 110% prefer paperbacks to hardbacks but I feel like we are unicorns because I’ve never witnessed someone other than me admitting that!! I despise hard cover slips because unless you tape them they are always sliding around everywhere and I find them harder to hold. I’d just prefer a paperback any day!

Great post! It was cool to get to know you and your bookish habits better! ☺

    1. Thank you so much, Brittany! Oh my gosh yes, rereads are amazing. Why read a new book that could potentially disappoint you when you can read the book you read five times last year again? Or that may just be my thought process. Paperbacks are so nice, they don’t have hard edges that stab the palms of my hands. And yes, dust jackets are so annoying, I always take them off when I read.

  2. My favorite thing about reading your posts is knowing you’re probably going to talk about how much you love Clary and/or Charlotte. like YES these Fairchild women deserve this endless hype!

Omg I also never grew out of my PJO phase and I never want to. UGH what a series.

And woo number 20, same, why are we like that??? LOL

I love this post and I’m very impressed that you came up with 25 facts because this seems hard but you shared some super great ones💕💕💕
