Hello my friends, I think we have officially entered a time in which I am stressed out by college so much that I can only do book tags. I’m not personally mad about it, not when they all have to do with matching songs to books. I love doing that and do it in my spare time constantly.
Anyways, onto the actual tag.
- Link back to the tagger. Hi, Dev! Thank you for giving me an excuse to do this!!
- Credit to Daniel @ Page to Page
- Listen to tagger’s song requests! After you’re done listening to the three songs the person who tagged you has chosen, choose a book that you think best goes along with that song and tell us why you chose it!
- Request 3 songs of your own! Give any three songs (and your corresponding book choices that think go well with said song) you want for your taggers to listen and respond to!
- Tag 5 people!
Read By Dev’s Songs:
This is Gospel by Panic! At the Disco
“This is gospel for the fallen ones
Locked away in permanent slumber
Assembling their philosophies
From pieces of broken memories”
I have no idea why this connection suddenly popped into my head when it never has before, but this time it did. I think that Michael would have found it hilarious to play this at club meetings or just blast it down the hallways before school. He would totally jam to Panic! music in general, lets be realistic here.
Love Like Revenge by Bad Suns
“I know, you know, how bad we both need this
Trust me, we can put the past behind us”
Okay I was stumped for a very long time about this song, I’m not going to lie. Then I don’t know how it happened, but I was staring at the lyrics trying to remember any book that I had ever read in my entire life and then I realized this screams Rhen and Harper. Like, think about it, read those selected lyrics, and think on it.
Ain’t No Rest For the Wicked by Cage the Elephant
“There ain’t nothing in this world for free
Oh no, I can’t slow down, I can’t hold back
Though you know, I wish I could
Oh no there ain’t no rest for the wicked
Until we close our eyes for good”
Okay this screams Number Nine. I can’t the image of his blasting this song in the car with Number Four on their way to New Mexico in this book. It’s permanently embedded in my brain, it’s basically canon.
She by Dodie
“And she smells like lemongrass and sleep
She tastes like apple juice and peach
Oh you would find her in a Polaroid picture
And she means everything to me”
I’m sure that approximately zero people are surprised that both this song and this book are on this tag, given that both are essentially My Brand™ at this point. Anyways, I was rereading Cam the other day (as I often do) and then after words I listened to She (as I more than often do) and I realized that Cameron would totally listen to this and feel angsty about Coley and then I had A Moment. So yeah.
What Do I Know? By Ed Sheeran
“The revolution’s coming, it’s a minute away
I saw people marching in the streets today
You know we are made up of love and hate
But both of them are balanced on a razor blade”
Am I allowed to match a song to a book I haven’t read yet? Because I am. In my mind, this will always be associated by Malec so I think it works.
Not Your Way by MisterWives
“Are we making ourselves clear?
We’re all the same under here
This is my disposition
Apologies for breaking your traditions”
Charlotte my baby!!! She would jam out to this song while getting dressed in an outfit that she knows her grandmother and brothers wouldn’t approve of, I can see it now.
Okay, that’s about it for me today. This tag was fun but also unnecessarily stressful because I suddenly forgot every song I’ve listened to and then every book I’ve ever read. However, I think that was just the fact that I was writing this at 2 am.
I’m tagging Brianna, Brittany, Caitlin, Katelyn, and Shelby. If for some reason you don’t want to do this, please don’t feel obligated because I totally get you! If I didn’t tag you but you want to do this tag, please feel free to use my songs and tag me, I’d love you read your post!!
Before you go, let me know what song you always have on repeat, if any. For me its definitely She by Dodie lol.
