June 2019 TBR

Hello, friends! Its June!! Do you know what that means? It means I start working (yuck) but also, more importantly, it means its pride month!!! I am super excited because this is the first pride month that I have like, known and understood my own sexuality and it seems like a really big deal even though it probably isn’t. Anyways, to celebrate and also to help plan my own book (its a NA f/f summer romance because that is honestly what I thrive on), I am going to be reading all LGBT books in June, or at least, mostly. You never know what is going to happen tbh.

Anyways, onto my hella over ambitious TBR!

Rereads

Let’s be honest, its not really a TBR post of mine if it doesn’t feature numerous rereads.

redwhiteandroyalblue

Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

  • LGBT+ rep: bisexual, gay
  • I read this as an ARC literally last month but I like, need to read it again. I bought a physical copy and I am going to annotate the hell out of it. It’ll be great. I can wear my Claremont 2020 tee shirt while I read it, I honestly can’t wait.

campostbook

The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth

  • LGBT+ rep: gay (mlm and wlw) and more that I cannot think of at the moment
  • Hey, what’s up, my name is Arin and this is my favorite book of all time. It is the book that helped me figure out my sexuality so I feel obligated to reread it for pride month. I will probably audiobook it because I don’t know if I can handle physically reading it again so soon and also I need more audiobooks for this month.

redscrolls

The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu

  • LGBT+ rep: gay (mlm and wlw)
  • If you thought I was going to get through pride month without rereading Haline content, you’re wrong.

New Books

I know it may be shocking, but I do sometimes read new books. Not as often as I would like, but sometimes.

o&f

Once & Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy

  • LGBT Rep: pansexual, gender fluidity
  • This book doesn’t have the best ratings, but I have the audiobook and I look forward to listening to it. I hope it reminds me of the TV show Merlin because I miss that show more than I would like to admit.

all-for-the-game_orig

All For The Game Series by Nora Sakavic

  • Books:
  • LGBT+ Rep: Gay (mlm), maybe more? I haven’t read them yet lol
  • Okay so the first book has some really bad ratings on goodreads but I’ve had these ebooks for like literally forever, so I might as well read them. I think I read the first half or so of the first one when I was like a freshman in high school, but maybe I will actually finish them this time. Maybe.

ghostsoftheshaowmarket

Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare

  • LGBT+ Rep: Gay (mlm and wlw)
  • I need to know Baby Carstairs name, its urgent. (But also, don’t spoil it for me. I have been avoiding the spoilers pretty well for once in my life). I also need to reread The Land I Lost, there is just like, no other option. It must happen.

iwyatb

I Wish You All The Best by Mason Deaver

  • LGBT+ Rep: Nonbinary, bisexual
  • I’ve heard so many great things about this book, I can’t wait to read it!!

george

George by Alex Gino

  • LGBT+ Rep: Transgender
  • This seems like such a cute and fun middle grade, I can’t wait to get to it!

tht

Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee

  • LGBT+ Rep: asexual, gay (mlm)
  • I have only read one book with asexual rep that I can think of, so I am beyond excited to read this one!

autoboy

Autoboyography by Christina Lauren

  • LGBT+ Rep: bisexual, gay (mlm) [I think, I could be wrong]
  • I bought this book pretty much on a whim at the end of the school year and I am very excited to read it. I keep thinking about it and have almost grabbed it to start reading it several times, but I have made myself resist so that I can enjoy it during pride month. I’ll probably read this fairly early in the month.

tmahacsf

Tell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel by Sara Farizan

  • LGBT+ Rep: gay (wlw)
  • I have had this book since like February so it is about time I read it. I think I will like it solely based off of the title, which is very relatable itself.

inlias

It’s Not Like It’s a Secret by Misa Sugiura

  • LGBT+ Rep: gay (wlw)
  • I have also had this once since like March so maybe actually reading it would be good, or like, at least a concept. It looks super cute and I love the cover so I hope that means I will love the book. Logic.

elty

Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour

  • LGBT+ Rep: gay (wlw)
  • I have had this book for literally years, though I had no idea it was gay when I bought it (I honestly love that so much, high school Arin didn’t know that she was doing her future self a favor). I have heard a lot of mixed opinions about this one, but I have hopes that I will like it.

Okay, I am going to stop here. Believe it or not (it’s me so you can probably believe it), I have more books that I could put on here and am secretly hoping I will get to, but we will see I guess. There is also a chance that I just won’t read some of the books on this list in favor of others because that is just how it goes sometimes, at least for me. What about you guys, are you reading any LGBT+ books for pride month? Do you have a favorite book with rep that is not on this list that I absolutely need to get to this month? Let’s chat in the comments!

  1. Same!! Hahah whenever I make a TBR, I’m thinking of maybe a dozen more books that I probably won’t get to but want to read anyway. And it’s so hard to get my mood reading self to read what I want it to honestly! But your TBR looks sooo good! I read Everything Leads to You and it’s super cute and fun. Yes you are right that Autoboyography has bi and gay rep! The mc is bi and his LI is gay. Though the insta love was understandable, it was a bit too much for me at times so I guess you should be aware of that if you don’t like insta love? I really hope I get to read RWRB for the first time this month because it’s all I’ve been hearing about and I need to get on board the hype train!

    1. Good to know that I am not the only one who has issues choosing what to put on a TBR and then sticking to it lol. Thanks for telling me about the instalove in Autoboyography, I tend to not like that so much, but I guess I’ll wait and see lol. I hope you enjoy RWRB when you get to it, I love it so much!!

  2. Ahhhh happy pride month Arin!! Wow I seriously love this TBR, there’s so many great options on here. Your hype for RWRB is making me want to read it and like, I really need to get to that already so we can discuss!! Also I’m excited for you to read IWYATB (it’s so good) and ELtY (which I haven’t even finished yet but I just have this strong feeling you’re going to love it lol). Hope you enjoy all these reads this month! ❤️

  3. Ahhhh such a good TBR!!! And yay for celebrating pride month for the first time (or at least, the first time since you’ve come to realize your own sexuality)!! This is only my second year knowing & accepting that I’m a part of it and it’s truly great to get this month to see and celebrate fellow members of the LGBTQ+ community! ♥♥ This is a GREAT tbr and you’ve given me so many good reads to add to my own list as well. I hope you have a fabulous reading month, and an even more fabulous Pride Month!♥
