Book Blogger Confessions Tag!

Hello, friends! It is not Tuesday, as you may have noticed. It is Wednesday, so normally I would post a Top 5 Wednesday. However, I am avoiding goodreads and kindle and anything else owned by Amazon given that their workers are on strike for prime day and I forgot to look up a topic before the strike began so I decided to do a tag instead. I saw Emma over at Emma’s Books do this tag and it looked like so much fun that I knew I had to do it! She didn’t tag me, but I am hoping she doesn’t mind that I decided to do it anyways. I found these questions to be super interesting, so I can’t wait to get into them! That being said, I’m just going to go ahead and jump into the tag now.

Which book, most recently, did you not finish?

I have only DNFed one book in my entire life and it was no time recently, so I don’t think I can answer this question lol. I am just so bad at DNFing books and no one, me included, knows why. I mean, I have no problem giving up on anything else in my life but I can’t not finish a book. It is very odd.

Which book is your guilty pleasure?

I feel like I don’t make it a secret that my guilty pleasure is The Selection by Kiera Cass. I unashamedly love this series and reread them constantly and I do not think that will change anytime soon. Bring on the overdramatic royals, I’m all in.

Which book do you love to hate?

Twilight is that train wreck you can’t look away from. I don’t love it, however, I do love Charlie Swan. He is the only redeemable thing about this series and without him these four books would mean nothing to me.

Which book would you throw into the sea?

Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli, this is probably the only truly unpopular opinion I have, but I hate this book. I spoke briefly about this in my sapphic books post, but there in a scene at the end of this where the love interest’s sexuality and choice of labeling is questioned and where Leah tells her it isn’t a real thing she can be and that’s just um, not okay in my books.

Which book have you read the most?

For some reason this is the last question I am answering so I know that this is the first of three Elemental books listed and if that isn’t on brand then I don’t know what is. But anyways, I have read this book too many times. I don’t know precisely how many, though I wish I did, but I know that I have read it once or twice or three times a year since 8th grade and that is a lot.

Which book would you hate to receive as a present?

This is going to sound bad, but anything by Sarah J. Maas. Her book was the one book I DNFed and I can never see myself reading her books, so if I got one as a present I would feel obligated to read it and that just doesn’t sound like a fun time to me.

Which book could you not live without?

I feel like there isn’t really a book I cannot live without, but if I had to chose one it would have to be The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth just because this book has made be discover so much about myself and I love it dearly. Thank you Cameron Post, I think I do need you in my life (even if this book makes me sad).

Which book made you the angriest?

I know I just said that I love to hate Twilight, but Eclipse made me so angry. Charlie Swan was acting very un-Charlie like and slightly problematic and we do not stand for that in this household. Thankfully he was back to normal in the last book, but in this book he was acting very oddly which angered me. Charlie is the only redeeming thing about Twilight so when he is acting weird, it is time to just throw everything out to be honest.

Which book made you cry the most?

Sacrifice by Brigid Kemmerer. This is the first book that ever made me cry and I continue to cry at one scene every time I reread it. Believe it or not, it is not like, one of the really sad scenes? Like, there is a character death and that has never bothered me, but this one scene just breaks me. Anyways, this one is a real tear jerker but probably only for me who has a somewhat unhealthy emotional attachment to the Merrick brothers.

Which book cover do you hate the most?

Secret by Brigid Kemmerer is one of my favorite books of all time, but I despise this original cover. Like, what is going on? Why is Quinn hanging off Nick’s shoulder when they spend most of the book fighting and the central romances are between each of them and a different love interest? Where are they? Is that a river in the background? If so, wouldn’t that have made more sense for Chris and Becca’s book? Also, since this book takes place in the winter, wouldn’t they both be really cold dressed like that?

This cover just really makes no sense and I am not a fan. I am not a fan for any of the covers in this series despite the fact that they are all time faves. The original covers are just cringy and bad but the newer ones are too romance novel-esque for a bunch of books about people fighting wars with elemental powers. Anyways, these covers are just a source of my frustration.

That’s the end of the tag! But before you go, let’s chat! Have you done this tag? What book covers make you cringe? Which book have you read the most?

  1. I have wanted to start the Elemental series for a while, but my Overdrive library only has Elemental (#0.5) and Sacrifice (#5). Isn’t that odd?! Anyway, my question is: Would you start with Elemental or with Storm?

    1. That is super weird, my library has a few series like that too and it always makes me go ? lol. I would start with Storm even though Elemental takes place first chronologically just because Storm provides the concept and the worldbuilding while Elemental is kind of just a snapshot!

  2. Same!!! I’m really bad at DNFing books for some reason, which I guess is a good thing to be bad at doing haha. I always knew that I didn’t want to read Leah on the Offbeat, but the fact that it invalidated you puts it on my “will never read” list! I’m so sorry that that happened, & please remember that all of your feelings are valid! And same, even though I don’t really remember the Selection anymore, way back years ago, it was the book that introduced me to the entire book community. Without it, I wouldn’t be blogging or reading what I am now so I have a lot to thank that book for I guess! I loved reading this tag 🧡

    1. DNFing books seems like giving up on a commitment to my brain? And I guess I am not capable of that lol. Leah on the Offbeat was like, a lot for me, and I wouldn’t recommend it tbh. I love The Selection so much!! I spend way too much time thinking about those books tbh. Thanks for reading!!
