Hi, friends!! This post was supposed to go up on Star Wars day, but the day before Star Wars day I accidentally fell out of the shower (long story) and nearly dislocated my shoulder. I didn’t, but I almost did, so it hurt to like move my arm at all or type, so that just didn’t happen. I still really wanted to do this tag though, so I figured what better a time than the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back!
1) R2-D2 – a book that made you laugh out loud
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling: Okay, listen, I am well aware that this book is very sad and serious, but it still made me laugh out loud multiple times. I am pretty sure all Harry Potter books manage to make me laugh out loud at least once while reading, but I remember clearly laughing out loud at the “there is no need to call me sir, professor” part.
2) Padme Amidala – Kickbutt female character
I would not be me if I ever answered this question with anyone other than the one and only Clary Fairchild from The Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare. She has done so many new things to save the world and all of the other people around her and yet people still constantly hate on her and try to say that she hasn’t done anything. She is also probably my favorite book character and I love her immensely. (Art Credit: Cassandra Jean)
3) Leia Organa – Best or worst love triangle?
Not to talk about Cassandra Clare characters two answers in a row, but the best love triangle I have ever read is definitely that of Will, Jem, and Tessa from The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. They all love each other so much and their dynamic is beyond amazing and I love it to pieces. Also, we may get to see it on TV in the near future? Isn’t that so wild? I cannot wait tbh.
4) Luke Skywalker – rising star author, a new author you’ve discovered and absolutely love
There are so many options for this, but I think that I have to go with none other than Erin Hahn. I still haven’t gotten a chance to read her first book, but More Than Maybe was a five star read for me and keep thinking about it, so I can’t wait to get around to reading her debut. I have seen so many people praise both books and I have the feeling they are right. If you like young adult romance and music, you should really check her out.
5) Anakin Skywalker – a book or series that started out well and then became bad
(Yes I did purposely chose a gif of young Anakin over older Anakin). I feel like I avoid talking about my feelings on Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare, but it. Was not good. The first two books in this series were so so good and I loved them so much, but this one was a mess and I am not a fan.
6) Qui-Gon Jinn – Worst character death
Okay, I am not going to say much on this because of spoilers (and the fact that I um,,,,haven’t read this because I got spoiled two days after it came out and have been so bitter over that that I still haven’t picked it up years later), but the death of a character in this. I feel was very bad. And unnecessary. There is a chance that opinion will change when I actually read the book, but that seems unlikely.
7) Han Solo – a book with a lot of sass
Oh look, I’m going authors back to back again. Any book that features Percy Jackson is bound (basically by law) to have a lot of sass, but I feel like the original Percy Jackson and the Olympians series has the most because they are told first hand by Percy himself. Also, not to bring back bad memories. But the whole Persassy thing in 2012 on tumblr. That happened.
8) Emperor Palpatine- Best world Building?
Okay, so, I don’t read a lot of high fantasy for the exact reason that I do not have enough brain cells to understand a lot of complex world building, which is why The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon was a hard read for me. That being said, the world building was very good and also it was gay, so points for that. I will always give points for there being gays.
9) Obi-Wan Kenobi – a book you went in with low expectations and that blew you away
I went into this book with weird expectations because I thought I would love it but was also very weary due to all the negative reviews, but Tell Me How You Really Feel by Aminah Mae Safi absolutely blew me away. It was a total five star read and I was freaking out and fangirling the whole time, I loved it so much. Please read it.
10) Yoda – a book that taught you something or that made you grow
To absolutely no one’s surprise, a book that taught me so many things and made me grow in so many ways is The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth. This book taught me so much about myself and has given me a lense through which I can evaluate different aspects of my life and my sexuality and I will never not be grateful for it. Once again, please read this book.
Okay, so, I think that is it from me for the day. What about you, do you like Star Wars? Who is your favorite character? Have you read any of these books? Let’s chat in the comments!
Tell Me How You Really Feel have negative reviews??? I loved it (and so did Bree hahah)
