Hi, friends!! I haven’t done a big monthly TBR or anything for a long while, but I thought since I have a couple of readathons going on this month and just some other things I want to read and watch this month I would try to publicly announce my TBR in the hopes that I will finish it. Anywho, let’s just jump into my plans for the month.
Let’s start with TV shows I want to watch this month. I have honestly never been really big on just sitting and watching TV, but ever since I started Avatar, it has become a regular part of my routine and I don’t know how I would go about cutting it out at this point.
- Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Yes, I just finished this show, yes, I will be rewatching it. I may also rewatch Legend of Korra when it hits Netflix but I have yet to completely decide yet, so it won’t be listed here. I mainly just want to rewatch this show to see all of the foreshadowing things I missed the first time and also to just continue to get emotional over children’s tv.
- Merlin
- I watched the first like two seasons of this in middle school and never finished it, but I started watching it again a few months about and I would like to try to actually finish it to get my heartbroken.
- The Dragon Prince
- I don’t actually know much about this show and I may find out that I am actually not that into it once I start it, but I feel like I could enjoy this and just want to try to watch it this month and see what happens.
Now, let’s move onto my TBR for the readathon I will be completing this month: Avatar: The Last Page Turner.
For this readathon, I am representing water tribe, but will also be trying to complete all of the prompts because why not.
- Pavi Sharma’s Guide to Going Home by Bridget Farr
- This book fulfills the readathon prompt for a book with blue on the cover. I have had this book sitting on my shelf for a while now, and since it is so short, it seems like the perfect time to try and knock it out.
- The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates
- This book fulfills the readathon prompt for a book with water on the cover. I read a book by Coates last month and absolutely loved it, so I knew I had to pick this one up as soon as I saw this prompt. As of writing this I am about 20% through it and I am still utterly in love with the writing style.
- Race to the Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse
- This book fulfills the readathon prompt for a book with an Indigenous MC by an Indigenous author. Back in December when I unintentionally went on a blogging hiatus I read most of the Rick Riordan Presents books, but this was one my library didn’t have at the time, so I can’t wait to read this one.
- The Rise of Kyoshi by F.C. Yee
- This book completes the prompts for a book with a green or brown cover and for a book with the chosen one trope. I cannot wait to learn more about Kyoshi, she has always seemed like one of the most interesting past avatar’s and I want to read her story. Also: gay.
- The Storm Runner by J.C. Cervantes
- This book fulfills the prompt for a book with nature on the cover. I read the first two books for this series in December, but I don’t remember all the details, so I want to reread them before the third book comes out in September.
- Deathless Divide by Justina Ireland
- This book fulfills the prompt for a book with a Black MC by a Black author. I read the first book in this series in June and I cannot wait to see how this story concludes, my library hold came in at just the right time.
- The Fire Keeper by J.C. Cervantes
- This book fulfills the prompts for every fire nation challenge. I might end up reading more books for these prompts, but since I am supposed to be attempting to let myself chill a little this month, we’ll just leave it at this one for now.
- Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga
- This book fulfills the prompts for a book with air on the cover and a book with an Asian MC by an Asian author. I have had the ebook of this for a while now, but I just happened to see a physical copy at my library yesterday so I figured it was a sign that I should read it for this readathon.
- The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
- This book fulfills the prompt for a book with a white cover. I must have been living under a rock for the past three or four years, because I still haven’t read this book. That said, I will soon rectify that.
- Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky by Kwame Mbalia
- This book fulfills the prompt for a book with multiple colors on the cover. Tristan Strong was my favorite of the imprint books when I read it in December, so I cannot wait to jump back in and hopefully review it this go round.
Now, here are a few other books I grabbed from the library yesterday that I would really like to get to this month.
- The Magnolia Sword by Sherry Thomas
- I honestly haven’t heard much of anything about this book, but I saw that cover and read the back of it and it really peaked my interest. Plus, I am trying to get myself back into physically reading fantasy, so I figure this book may help me do that.
- American Panda by Gloria Chao
- I picked this up thinking it was a cute and fun contemporary, but reviews have clued me in that this book is pretty heavy. Either way, the cover is so cute and I will need some contemporaries to get me through the fantasies I want to read this month.
- Wicked Fox by Kat Cho
- I have heard a lot about this book and so many people seemed to be reading this last month, I decided I want in on the club. But also, once again, I am trying to physically read fantasies again, but we’ll see.
- Almost American Girl by Robin Ha
- I also haven’t heard much about this, but I wanted to pick up a few graphic novels while I was at the library and this cover looked interesting, so I grabbed it. I don’t have much control when it comes to getting library books because, hello, free books.
- Clean Getaway by Nic Stone
- I saw a bright yellow cover on the new releases shelf and was drawn to it, and after reading the summary this just sounds like a fun middle grade summer contemporary that I can’t wait to dive into.
- The Dragon Warrior by Katie Zhao
- I tweeted a while ago that I was wanting to read more diverse middle grades outside of RRP books, and this was recommended to me and after looking more into it seems like this will be a great time.
- Jedi Academy Series
- I have already read the first two books in this series, but I want to reread them so that I can finish this series and maybe review them.
- Emily Windsnap by Liz Kessler
- Against my wishes, I am being drug out of state on a vacation to the beach by my family who apparently doesn’t care that we are in the midst of a pandemic. I will probably barely leave our beach house for that reason, so I figured the perfect solution was to reread some of my favorite mermaid books in order to maybe still feel like I’m in a beachy mood.
Okay, so, that is it for the day. So much for taking it easy on the reading front this month, maybe next month since I will be back in school and just panicking the whole time. Also, I will be writing my 400 follower Q&A post soon, so drop any questions if you have them!!
I’ve plans to watch The Umbrella Academy! And, read atleast 5 books.
